Benjamin Mendy was born on the 17th of July, 1994. Mendy is a French professional footballer who currently plays for Manchester City in the Premier League. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the France national team.
Mendy began his playing career with Le Havre’s reserve team in 2010, after graduating from the club’s development academy, and was promoted to the first squad a year later.
Mendy was at the club until 2013 when Mendy left to join Ligue 1 team Marseille. Mendy stayed with Les Olympiens for three seasons before moving on to Monaco, where Mendy won the national championship in 2016-17.
Mendy joined English club Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for a then-world-record amount for a defender. In his first season in England, he won the Premier League.
Mendy made his senior debut for France in 2017 after previously representing France at the under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels. He was named to France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
Manchester City suspended Mendy in August 2021 after Mendy was charged with sexual offences. In May 2022, he pled not guilty to seven rape, one sexual assault, and one attempted rape allegation involving six complainants.
