For the most part, the Emmy after-party gossip was just as boring as this year’s Emmys. But several media outlets kept on reporting that Jon Hamm and January Jones were keeping suspiciously close to each other at the parties. Us Weekly’s eyewitness said that Hamm and Jones were “nestled in a corner booth” with some other Mad Men people at BOA Steakhouse. January also posted the Instagram above with Hamm although… to be fair, she posted photos of herself with Tina Fey and Elisabeth Moss too. Jon and January have always been friends and no one really thought much of it. I certainly dismissed the stories yesterday, because I kept thinking “Oh, but January is still with Will Forte, right?” Nope. Us Weekly confirms:
It’s over! January Jones and Will Forte have ended their relationship after just five months of dating, a source confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. The pair called it quits last month. As previously reported, Jones and Forte met on set of their post-apocalyptic series The Last Man on Earth. They began dating in April.
The exes both attended the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in L.A. on Sunday, Sept. 20 (No awkward run-ins at the ceremony or any afterparties were reported.) Jones, 37, spent most of the night celebrating with her Mad Men cast. Forte, 45, was nominated in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category for his Fox comedy role, but lost out to Transparent’s Jeffrey Tambor.
As for why the actress isn’t on board with Forte, it may be due to the fact that she’s not looking for commitment. Jones has told pals that “relationships are a pain in the ass,” the insider says.
Jones, who is mom to 4-year-old son Xander, previously dated director Noah Miller until they split in January 2013. Prior to Miller, she was linked to Jason Sudeikis, Ashton Kutcher, and Josh Groban. She has kept the identity of Xander’s father private.
First of all, that’s a baller move for a woman to dump a dude citing the fact that “relationships are a pain in the ass.” It also goes along with January’s ice queen image, which she seems to enjoy. Part of me believes that January is really like that – she’s not really into the girlfriend thing, she just wants to have fun. And I feel like she might have broken up with Will Forte just as soon as Hamm became a single guy? It certainly feels like something is there. Don and his Birdie forever? Probably not – my guess is they’re both just looking for a hookup.
