Mark Stephen Shields is an American political columnist and commentator. He worked in leadership positions for many Democratic candidates’ election campaigns.
Shields provided weekly political analysis and commentary for the PBS NewsHour from 1988 to 2020.
Mark was born on May, 25,1937, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, United States.
He serviced from 1960 to 1962. Mark is married to Anne Hudson shields. The couple has a daughter, Anny Hudson.
Shields graduated with a B.A. in philosophy from The University of Notre Dame in 1959.
After serving in the Marine Corps, he moved to Washington, D.C., in 1964 to begin a career in politics.
Shields managed or worked for several Democratic political campaigns across the country.
He left politics in 1979 to join the editorial staff of the Washington Post newspaper After a year, Mark shield became a member of the Board columnist, and he soon began working on the radio with ABC (American Broadcasting Company).
In addition to his broadcast and print activities, Mark taught courses in Journalism at Havard University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
